Library & Academic Affairs Assistant – Part-Time for Jan-Apr Term
A University Library in London has a great part-time job opportunity for a Library & Academic Affairs Assistant.This is a hybrid role that supports both the Library and Academic Affairs team.
Working with the Librarian, the Library Assistant plays a pivotal part in ensuring the library is a friendly and welcoming space for all who use it. With a positive and flexible mindset, you will actively contribute to an efficient, customer-focused and student-centred library service.
Between 6 and 8pm each day the Library Assistant is the senior presence in the library, and building.
Key Job Responsibilities will also include:
- Assisting students and faculty with literature searches using online and printed resources,
- responding to queries received in-person, via email and phone
- Perform Blackboard maintenance and optimisation
- Cataloguing new acquisitions
- Providing basic maintenance of the Library’s resources
- Provide regular support to the Academic Affairs team when required. This will take the form of general administration, data entry, preparing new student welcome packs, etc.
Experience and Person Specification
Applicants should be educated to bachelor’s degree level and possess:
- A good level of general IT literacy and be comfortable learning, and working with, new systems and platforms.
- Flexible approach to the role and ability to work evenings
- Experience of front-line library services, working with a wide range of service users
- Empathetic approach to students, and ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with key stake holders in the library
- Ability to plan, manage workloads, organise and work with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
A Library and Information Studies qualification would be desirable, as would experience of working with students, educational technology and Library Management Systems.
Hours: First week 13 to 16 January: 09:00 to 14:00.Thereafter, until April: 14:00 to 20:00.
